Lines can be boundaries, borders, or they can stand alone. Lines define and interpret; giving meaning and shape to the surroundings and involvements of their context. Lines come together and move apart. Spaces between the lines enlarge and shrink. Surroundings remain constant as the form within changes. These relationships work in concert to define and refine from general to specific capturing the form’s gesture and movement within its organic nature. We are linear. Our lives are measured linearly in the form of time. As we travel through time, our lives entwine with other lives through family, friends, and acquaintances. No matter how central other lives are to us, they are still part of us and we are part of them. People come into our lives and influence us even if for a short time as we do the same. They leave, sometimes by choice and eventually without choice as all of us will. As some lines stop others start, continuing the cycle of these relationships. These uncontrollable events, positive or negative, shape our reality defining the paths of our lives.
